President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that the removal of fuel subsidy was a necessary decision to save the nations economic future.
He emphasised on resource management, stating that the nation has to manage it’s resources within her means, and management should be taught on all levels.
He disclosed this during a presidential media chat on Monday, December 23.
He said, “We are spending our future. We are spending our generation’s fortunes. We are not investing. We are just deceiving ourselves.
“That reform was necessary, I could see the smugglers fighting back, that one doesn’t affect me,it affects smuggling.
“Why should you have expenditures when you don’t have revenues? We should teach management in all our programmes, we have to manage our resources within our means.
“I don’t have any regret in removing the fuel subsidy. We cannot spend our generation investment.
”We have no choice. Otherwise, we are headed for the slippery slope, financial disaster, not just for us but our children.”
The president equally made reference to the fact that the country has so many expenditures without any revenue.
