The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, has called on the party’s youth members to lead the election campaign and secure victory at the polls.
Speaking at a retreat in Akure for PDP youth leaders, Ajayi shared his journey of overcoming poverty by age 22 and encouraged the youths to take bold risks to ensure the defeat of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He emphasised the importance of being frustrated by the current state of the country and assured them that if they fully committed to the campaign, it would be challenging for the APC to rig the election.
Hon Ajayi said: “We have seen signals, we have seen their plans and we are not scared of any intimidation because this is our state, what is going to happen is that people will go out and vote, we are not scared of anybody. Once our people peacefully conduct themselves, you can’t take away their rights to vote for whoever they want to vote for.
“I have always advised them that they must not allow any reflection to frustrate them and they must conquer poverty and they will do that by their votes.
“We have prepared for them and we are ready for them, we would resist any act of intimidation by any opposition in this state. Forget about the power of any incumbency, the power of masses is more than any incumbency power.”
Caretaker committee chairman of the Ondo PDP, Hon Bakkita Olofowobi Bello, encouraged the youths not to betray the party by yielding to inducement.
The youths, in their various opinions, demanded a 65 percent slot in appointments if Ajayi won the polls and vowed to end bad governance in the state through protest votes.
They urged the party to provide them with all the necessary materials, saying there was no way they could do anything without funding.
