The Ondo State Police Command to today dismissed a report that some female students of the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology Okitipupa, were raped by some unknown armed robbers in the area.

It was reported that the students of the institution on Thursday staged a peaceful in the town, against spate of insecurity , particularly the attacks on their female colleagues in their hostels by some hoodlums. No fewer than four female students were reported to have been raped by the hoodums.

The President of the Student Union Government of the institution,
Damilola Okunomo had confirmed the raping of the students, saying the students were tired of the level of insecurity in the area, noting that the hoodlums robbed students of their valuables like phones, laptops, gadgets and rape female ones at gunpoint.

To this end , the management of the university ordered for the closure of the institution for two weeks over the incident.

However, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Bolaji Salami declared that there was no report of case of rape reported by the students of the institution to any security agencies, saying since the case was not reported there was way the police could investigate it.

He said , ” We have been reading various reports that gunmen raped the students of the university (OAUSTECH), this is not true, there are no gunmen in Okitipupa Community, to the best of our knowledge , no student is being raped.

” The students are living in the town , they do have problems with the local people there but that gunmen raped students is totally untrue. The closure of the university is not because of the issue of insecurity. “

According to the police boss, the area commander of the area was already meeting with the stakeholders in the community over the matter.
