The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has disclosed plans to launch a phased contactless passport renewal system, which will start from Canada on November 1, 2024.
This initiative, designed to simplify and modernise the passport renewal process, allows Nigerians to apply for passport renewals online, reducing the need for in-person visits to NIS offices.
Following Canada, the service will extend to the United Kingdom(UK), United States of America (USA), and Italy on November 15, and by December 1, it will be available in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
This was made known via a video shared via the NIS’s X handle on Wednesday, October 30.
The caption reads: “All you need to know about our new, about to be launched Contactless Passport Application System.
“Phase 1: Canada – Nov. 1, Phase 2: UK, USA, Italy – Nov. 15, Phase 3: Nigeria & the rest of the world – Dec. 1.
