The former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Chief Alfred Agboola Ajayi has noticed with dismay and consternation recent news stories ostensibly planted in various media platforms by some jobless overzealous errand boys, linking the former Deputy Governor to an alleged plan to lobby the Court of Appeals for a favourable judgement.
According to the cowardly crafted story aimed at discrediting the unblemished reputation of the former Deputy Governor, informed sources had disclosed that the expectation of the ZLP and its candidate, Agboola Ajayi, was that the Appeal Court would nullify the re-election of Akeredolu and order a re-run poll. This, according to the media hirelings would have paved the way for the former deputy governor to try his luck again. Not done with satanic mischief, this hired media team alleged that Ajayi’s calculation was that the APC and by extension, Governor Akeredolu would have been disqualified from the envisioned new gubernatorial poll.
The these mischivoius media team went further in their fruitless efforts to accuse the former Deputy Governor and Zenith Labour Party’s candidate in the October 2020 Ondo State governorship governorship election of seeing a ray of hope in Eyitayo Jegede’s case.
This concocted story wouldn’t have elicited any response from the former Deputy Governor moreso, that it’s now before a court of competent jurisdiction, but for the unsuspecting members of the public who may not even be aware that the former Deputy Governor is not a party in the suit and for the purpose of straightening the records.
At this juncture, it has become imperative to remind the purveyors and idle peddlers of this conspiracy theory that Alfred Agboola Ajay had the required locus standi to challenge the outcome of the 2020 election. But the former Deputy Governor decided otherwise and has since moved on with his life.
Sadly, they have refused to wake up from Agboola Ajayi nightmare, months after that election. Instead of moving on and facing the serious challenges bedeviling our country at various levels, they remain stuck in their past and continues to indulge in this usual style of blame game and buck passing.
We challenge the writers of the jejune and ludicrous story to be courageous enough to come out and name those All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders/ members, who they alleged the former Deputy Governor has been meeting with.
Surprisingly, it seems that these errand boys instead of facing squarely the offices for which they were appointed to superintendent remain unrepentant and unperturbed in dedicating scarce state resources to plant fictions, imaginations and their fantasies in the national tabloids just to discredit the former deputy governor.
Agboola Ajayi served Ondo State meritoriously and left behind an indelible legacy. Therefore, the latest sickening but reckless move to drag him into the ongoing legal tussle in the state will fall flat. Ajayi is a man without guile; he’s a man of honour. He has moved on, let other too move on instead of acting like a petulant child.
Let Alfred Agboola Ajayi be ! Leave him out your trouble.
