Several houses have been submerged in flood in some communities in Ikare Akoko after a heavy rainfall that lasted for over three hours.
The flooding was occasioned by the River Dada overflowing its bank.
Among the buildings affected were a church and three hotels.
Agbaluku area was covered with the flood, causing heavy vehicular traffic on the highway.
Director of Environmental Services in Akoko Northwest local government, Mrs Yemisi Adeniyi, urged the people to stop erecting structures close to river banks.
She said residents using refuse to block waterways would be made to face the wrath of the law.
A community leader in Ikare Akoko, Chief James Oladetohun, urged the federal government to declare Ikare Akoko an ecologically prone town.
