Children of Ondo State former Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), the late Chief Augustus Akenroye, have taken up the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of their father’s alma mater to develop education in the area.
They visited the Local Authority Primary School, Ilutitun-Osooro in Okitipupa Local Council of Ondo State at the weekend, where their father graduated in 1950, as part of the activities to mark his funeral ceremony with pomp.
The children pledged to pull down and renovate some buildings, provide books, scholarship and institute endowment funds to immortalise their father.
They motivated them to see themselves like their late father who sat in same class as theirs in the school.
The first child of the deceased, Dr. Adegboyega Akenroye, who spoke for his siblings, described their father as a philanthropist who loved education and committed to the development of his folks.
He allayed the fears of the people on the yearly Law Prize instituted by their father in his alma mater, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, about six years ago, assuring that the project will not stop.
The Bishop of Diocese on the Coast, Church of Nigeria, (Anglican Communion), Rt. Revd. Oluseyi Pirisola, in his homily at Ebenezer Anglican Cathedral, Ilutitun-Osooro, in Okitipupa Local Council, urged everyone to emulate the patriarch’s virtues.
Pirisola described the late Akenroye as an Ikale man who had contributed his own quotas immensely to the development of his community, the legal profession, Anglican Communion, Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole.
