Over the years, I have taken time to study leaders and read up on the concept of leadership. These years, I have also had the privilege of interaction, at close quarters, with a number of leaders. Whatever the book says, when you see leadership at work, it is easy to tell.
In all of my study and interaction with Leaders across different endeavours, I struggle to find anyone with the quality of style and substance, as Hon. Olajide Olutuyi. In the last 2 years, I have had the privilege of working with him, with access to high level engagements, not once did I see him lose sight of what was the most important… peace and solution.
With equanimity, insight and profound words of wisdom, he would always find a way to defuse tension, pointing in the direction of peace, standing firm and principled, true to his belief and Biblical values.
What stands him out among other Leaders is his unflappable sincerity, commitment to truth and impeccable integrity, on all counts and at all times. With him, there is no hide and seek. What you see is what you get, transparent and genuine. He would not profess one thing in public and say another in private. The closer you come to him, the more you see him for who he is.
A smart, humble and simple leader, true to his calling, never seeking to draw attention onto himself, yet so wise. For him, it has always been a case of the leadership call upon his life finding him out, at the right time. He would not put himself forward, he would not push.
He earned our respect, he didn’t demand it. His conduct didn’t demand respect, it commanded respect. He conducted his affairs in a manner in which we all voluntarily and joyfully gave him respect.
Hon. Olajide’s philosophy of life encapsulates what we most desire in our leaders… a sacrificial commitment to the major rather than an obsession with the minor…It is the remarkable fidelity of this gentleman to virtues uncommon in this realm that especially stands him out.
I pray that God’s grace, blessings, and guidance accompany you every step of the next 50 years. May His favour be your constant companion, and may you continue to impact lives with the love and grace you embody. May the essence of who you are continue to shine, and may it unveil even greater blessings
