Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has announced that the new minimum wage of ¦ 73,000 for civil servants will be implemented this month (November). This declaration was made during the 2024 Public Service Week celebration, which featured a fitness walk to promote public workers’ well-being.

Civil servants, led by labor leaders, marched through the state capital and gathered at the Government House to express their support for Aiyedatiwa ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election.

Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the welfare of civil servants is a priority for his administration, stating that the minimum wage is a testament to his focus on improving their quality of life. He mentioned that a committee has finalized the implementation structure for the wage increase, and he will approve the payment soon.

He assured civil servants that if re-elected, he would exceed his current achievements and continue to prioritize their welfare.

The Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip, commended Aiyedatiwa for fostering a supportive environment for civil servants, highlighting the administration’s commitment to timely salary payments, promotions, bonuses, and pensions.

State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Clement Fatuase, expressed confidence in Aiyedatiwa’s support for civil servants, affirming that they would celebrate his victory on November 17.
