Reps Vow To Unravel Corruption Allegations Against EFCC, NCoS

The House of Representatives has launched an investigation into allegations of corruption against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).

The joint committee, led by its Chairman Mr. Ginger Onwusibe, vowed to uncover the truth behind the claims.

Blogger Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, initially refused to testify because co-accused Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, was absent.
After conferring with his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, Otse eventually provided his evidence, stating his intent was to expose societal corruption.

Chairman Onwusibe emphasized that the investigation’s focus was on the integrity of two key Nigerian institutions, not individuals like Otse or Bobrisky.

Bobrisky’s lawyer cited illness as the reason for his absence, prompting the committee to plan a re-invitation.

Deputy Comptroller Michael Anugwa testified that Bobrisky served 10 days at the Kirikiri Medium Security Center, refusing facility food in favor of meals brought by his siblings. He added that Bobrisky, though male, had some female physical features, necessitating protective custody.

Anugwa confirmed that Bobrisky was later transferred to the Maximum Correctional Facility after the initial 10 days and noted that the minimum facility usually houses first-time offenders.

The committee requested CCTV footage of Bobrisky’s transfer to maximum security after Assistant Comptroller General Ben Freedman admitted that the transfer was conducted via a private vehicle due to security concerns, following a donation of plastic chairs by Bobrisky.

The House raised concerns about the irregularity of the transfer method.
