The Nigeria Labour Congress in Lagos State, on Wednesday, asked the government to provide palliatives to the citizens.
According to the NLC, the decision to embark on protest by organised labour was not to fight the government but to demand good palliatives for Nigerians.
The protesters converged at the Ikeja area of Lagos State.
The Deputy President of NLC, Adeyanju Adewale, while addressing protesters who converged at Ikeja, Lagos, Wednesday morning stressed that organised labour was not out to fight the government.
He said, “They should not see us as if we are fighting them (government), we are not fighting them (government), what we are asking for is to give us sound palliative incentives that will take care of our families. I think that is our struggle, it is a struggle of survival”
The NLC had given the government a seven-day ultimatum with threats of a nationwide strike scheduled to commence on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
