Two commercial motorcyclists popularly known as okada riders lost their lives in a road accident that occurred along Agbaluku road in Arigidi-Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Thursday.
City Round gathered that the two okada riders in Ondo had a head on collision, resulting in instant death.
An eyewitness told one of our correspondents that the riders attempted to overtake a school bus and in the process, hit another okada rider coming from the opposite direction of the road.
The eyewitness said, “The accident was caused by reckless driving. There have been cases of road accidents in the Agbaluku axis of the road to Ajowa Akoko. Many drivers drive recklessly without caution because the road is good. This is bad.”
In a reaction, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ikare Akoko, Mr Ade Alabi, attributed the cause of the accident to recklessness and lack of patience.
He called on the commercial motorcyclists in the area to always use helmets, saying the two casualties suffered head injuries.
It was gathered that the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of a hospital in the area.
