2027: Kwankwaso, Aregbesola’s closed-door meeting in Lagos stirs coalition moves

The National leader of New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Saturday met with the former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, behind closed-doors.

Details of what the two men discussed at the meeting held at Aregbesola’s Lagos residence could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

Sources in the Osun State chapter of the NNPP, who preferred to remain anonymous since they were not authorised to speak at the meeting, said the politicians discussed issues around national politics.

Aregbesola-backed political group, Omoluabi Progressives had recently announced its exit from the All Progressives Congress in Osun, citing victimisation, among others, by the mainstream APC.

Since the exit was announced, there have been speculations about what could be the next political step of the former Osun State governor and his supporters.

Osun NNPP Chairman, Dr Tosin Odeyemi, shared pictures taken by Kwankwaso and Aregbesola after the meeting.

When asked to comment on the development, Odeyemi said “The meeting took place at the residence of Aregbesola in Lagos.

“The meeting reflected a shared commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and fostering national development.

“The third force in Nigeria’s political landscape presently is NNPP and the party leadership will leave no stone on turn in making Nigeria great again.”
